Maintains two web sites ' www.stutteringhelp.org and www.tartamudez.org ' which provide help, information, and resources to a worldwide audience. The Web sites receive more than 1.5 million hits per month.
Maintains a toll-free hotline ' 800-992-9392 ' and answers some 24,000 calls a year.
Answers thousands of e-mails each year at info@stutteringhelp.org.
Publishes 30 books, 43 videotapes and DVDs and 21 brochures on stuttering.
Over 800,000 publications are distributed each year to those who stutter, their families, speech-language pathologists, pediatricians, family physicians, hospitals, schools, clinics, day-care centers, libraries, and others concerned with the problem of stuttering.
Provides an information packet to parents of children who may have a stuttering problem. The packet includes free brochures and a resource list.
Provides an information packet for adults and teens who stutter. This includes free brochures, a resource list, and contacts for support groups in their areas.
Provides a nationwide resource list for adults who stutter, parents, pediatricians, speech-language pathologists, and all those looking for a speech-language pathologist who specializes in stuttering.

Distributes information on stuttering at the conventions of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the National Association of Pediatric Nurses, the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Mails approximately 2,500 press releases and reaches more than 30,000 journalists via wire service and e-mail several times a year to educate the public about stuttering. These releases are sent to newspapers, syndicated columnists, and editors at magazines, radio, and television stations across the country.
Distributes DVDs, books, and brochures to 105 countries.

CELEBRITY FOCUS

Dave Taylor

Dave Taylor has been on the Stuttering Foundation's list of Famous People Who Stutter for many years, but probably few people know all of the unique accomplishments of this former hockey great who was born on December 4, 1955, in Levack, Ontario.

Lewis Carroll

The recent Disney version of Lewis Carroll’s classic, Alice in Wonderland, garnered a great deal of media hype. Even though the mainstream media has not made mention that Carroll was a person who stuttered, his family history gives credence to the discovery of the genetic link to stuttering. Carroll was born to parents who were first cousins; almost all of their eleven children, three girls and seven boys, struggled with stuttering past childhood.

John Stossel

John Stossel is one of the most recognized and articulate reporters today. However, he once considered giving up his broadcasting career because of his stuttering.

“Fear of stuttering can easily become worse than the stuttering itself,” observed Stossel. “The idea that I’m on television and making speeches is still a shock to me sometimes.”

James Earl Jones

Actor James Earl Jones, a Broadway, television and movie star, is well-known for his voice as Darth Vader in Star Wars and his book Voices and Silences. Jones has spoken some of the most memorable lines in the history of American film, but the man known for his voice was once afflicted with a severe stutter.

Bill Withers

While Bill Withers has long been on the Stuttering Foundation's list of Famous People Who Stutter, many people probably didn’t realize he stuttered. He passed away on March 30, 2020.

Born in 1938 in Slab Fork, W.V., Withers was the youngest of six children. When his father died when Withers was small, he was raised by his mother and grandmother, both of whom worked as domestics.
